A long time ago in a galaxy far far away

I watched a friend create a galaxy background and it had been a while since I made one so I thought why not, did it work like I hoped, no, will I be making more, probably lol. I do need a better white paint/spatter so I am looking for options.

The image is from Mayzy and is probably 10 years old, I loved her drawing style and it was a dream to colour.

Paper Pieced Flowers

I was recently gifted this flower stamp set from Lisa Horton, it’s my first from her but won’t be my last lol. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to paper piece it, I used to do this all the time and I love the effect. It’s not even quicker than colouring but it is a way to use that mountain of paper pads lol.

I used a very old first edition called neroli, it’s brighter in real life than it looks here and I feel more of these need to be made.

A different colour scheme than before but it works, I do like this style and expect to see more lol.

I am not sure how I came to use this die and these girly stamps together but it definitely works, I might have made more so expect to see those soon too. 

Best Friends

I made these cards before I knew how to refill my copics properly so the colouring is a little splotchy, I was also in my simple card style phase, it’s always interesting when you look at something you made 6 months ago with fresh eyes.

Iron Who?

I made this at the same time as the fat man card and using the same items too, I love the doctor digi for guy cards, they have the humour without the smut you see in the shops.

Another big birthday and one I completed early as I knew what image I wanted to use and I almost copied a design I made way back in 2010, sometimes if it ain’t broke don’t fix it lol.

You may recognise this design from one I made earlier this year, at the time I thought it would make a fabulous eclipse card but I hadn’t thought far enough ahead lol.

Rainbow Roller Skates

A total departure from my normal style, absolutely no stamping and no colouring on these just die cuts. I love the way the bright rainbow pops on the black and wonder why I’ve never tried it before. 

Harry Potter Cat

This is a new digi stamp company, well new to me anyway lol, i really like the designs and by the time this publishes I will have probably bought more.

I wanted a magical map and saw this one in the Hunkydory sale so I thought it was a match made in heaven and now seeing it again I like it even more and think I should make a few of these.

Spotlight Stencil Again

I do think I will be using this technique again but I might stamp the background (not in the stencil coloured area) in grey next time. This one is a fish, is it easier or more difficult to spot than the boot?

Spotlight Stencil

Another creative stamping card and another break from the cute too, I had seen someone use a stencil to create a spotlight and thought it looked cool, I should have used inks but copics are my go to so that’s what I went with. Now I know it’s a hiking boot in the background but I’m not sure you would have noticed that.

Something Sweet

Sometimes you just want to colour and this is one of those occasions, I had seen a card on the design team blog and thought it was perfect so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it lol.

Yay you did it

I have finally used the sunny studio stamp set I bought three years ago after watching a Jennifer McGuire video lol. Strangely though I do want to use the crayon now lol. I didn’t use all the layers as I realised that I was running out of time to send the card but now I’m seeing it again I do want to bust it out and use it again. Having the altenew cubes in sets really helped with the colours, so I highly recommend them.

Different Strokes

A different type of card for me but sometimes I like to mix it up. I’ve always been a fan of the creative stamping magazine and I couldn’t resist this one. I am still surprised I used it the same day I bought it lol. Everything else was already on my desk so it seemed natural to use it all lol.

Another Chapter Begins

Someone please explain to me how my neighbours little boy who was born yesterday is going to school!! He was born just before the first Covid lockdown, which meant he didn’t really see anyone except his parents and us over the garden fence. He’s a sociable little lad though and is such a pleasure to be around, hearing him shout my name over the fence asking me to play will never get old.

So naturally I had to make him a card for his first day at school, he of course loved school and couldn’t wait to go back.

Return of the Hat

There is something deeply satisfying about revisiting a past design and loving it more the second time around. I went with almost the same colours as last time but I decided to try a two tone hat and it definitely worked. Maybe I should try brighter colours next time though like a red.

Sweater Weather - Big 6 Version 4

The pink version, I am not sure when I started assigning colours to each of the big 6 but it’s definitely something I don’t even think I’m conscious off until I see all the cards together.  

Happy birthday wishes

I originally bought the circle die to make my own enamel dots and then I thought what if I use it as an element on a plain background and I think it works. I made this card a while ago and I think I was in my colouring phase, these images with lots of hair are always a joy to colour.

Another gamers dream

You might recognise this design from the last post and yes I’m continuing to try and make multiples in each sitting, I try and make the characters look like the people I’m sending them too so this young man needed blonde hair.

I had an idea in my head for this card and it as almost exactly how I wanted it to turn out. I kind of wish I had added a game to the screen but there is always next time lol

Fried Chicken

This card came to me in a vision lol, I wanted to use the new set from The Sassy Club and I knew I wanted a bucket of chicken so I designed this myself using elements from cricut design space, this is why I love my cricut without the ability to draw/design it myself I could still make something  I’m really happy with.

I folded the money after watching a video from Jennifer McGuire, makes it look like it’s more than it is lol

A Fusion of old and new

I used lots of new and old stuff on this card, first the new - the deckle edge stencil and birthday background stamp both from MFT, and then the old - the beer and sentiment by apple blossom. This is a very useful stamp set but actually not the one I planned on using but of course I couldn’t find that one lol.

Big Birthday Number 14

A change from my usual style big birthday but this card was needed in a hurry, I had no idea my cousins husband was turning 30 until she mentioned it two days before the big day so I wanted to get this card in the post and I had about 30 minutes. so I went with a quick but effective card 

Congradulations

I’ve had this idea in my head for a while, I love the pretty pink posh layered stencils so of course I wanted to use it, I went with the infamous eclipse but with a bubble twist, definitely works really well and make the sentiment stand out much more.

Big Birthday Number 13

Number 13 unlucky for some but not this gent, he is a gentle giant with a great sense of humour who likes dressing up so I hope he likes the outfit choice lol.

Big Birthday Number 12

 I had an image in mind for this card but decided this one worked better and then I could use the other one next year lol. I am finding it hard to believe that this young lady is 18, she is such a sweet, kind and chatty person, I love spending time with her.

I went with the shaped card again, I was going to go with eclipse but thought nope shaped is what is needed. I do love my cricut for these, I can make them so quickly and they are so effective too.

Same but different stripes

I had coloured this image in Florida in February and he was too cute to not use but the colours are very bright so the stripes also had to be bright lol.

This design is so simple but effective and a go to if I don’t have a layout in mind.

Well that didn’t work …

This didn’t turn out as I hoped and even though I’m not happy with it I thought I should pop it on here to remind me that I made it, otherwise I wouldn’t remember and might make the same mistakes again lol.

I should have coloured the images on white not craft as that changed the way the colours behaved, I do like the idea of using a big TV though so maybe I will try that again just go in a different direction

Gnome a classic

Not the direction I was originally going with this card but I do like how it turned out. Polkadoodles Gnomes are spectacular and so lovely to colour too.

Fairwee Macaroon

Today is two of my very good friends birthdays, they were both born on the same day, same year just oceans apart. I am showing Jane’s card today as I know she checks my blog and I wanted to wish her a happy birthday, also want to wish Judy a happy birthday too.

Jane is a fan of cake and I know she likes macaroon stamps so I combined that to make her card.

New Home

Friends of ours recently moved and are now living in my home country (Wales if you didn’t know lol) the farmhouse they bought looks fabulous and I know they will be very happy there.

Of course I wanted to send them a card that looked similar to the house and I know it has been received and they loved it.

Wizard of Oz

I had to have this set from clearly besotted and it’s taken ages to actually use it but I’m so happy I have. Thank goodness I have recently filled my copics cos it would have been a nightmare otherwise lol.

Treat Yourself

I own a lot and I mean a lot of burger stamps but when I saw this freebie digi from Hunkydory I couldn’t wait to colour it and make a card. I used the Tim holtz stencil for the ketchup splats but the first attempt went a bit overboard and looked more like a bloodbath than ketchup lol.

Fat man and Bobbin

I was going to go with a different title but the name of the digi stamp sealed the deal lol. I have been on a doctor digi kick recently and I love the expressive look he obtains. I also bought the comic background specifically for this card and I might have used it again too. It’s perfect for all the superhero sets I own.

Return of the stripes number 3

I went with the same design I made previously I just changed the hair colour and the stripe colour. Seeing them here I want to make more like this as they look so quick and easy even though they weren’t lol.

Twice as nice

Another revisited design and I really enjoyed making them both. I love Mo Manning images she captures the look of kids so well, I have been using her images since 2009 and I am amazed by how timeless they are. Think I might even use this design for next years cards too. Plus this is a printed paper pack and I definitely need to use it up.

Return of the stripes number 2

Again I went with a straight look and again it was harder than the angle I normally use so I think it’s angles from now on lol. 

I do like the simplicity of this design though and the image does definitely take centre stage.

Return of the Stripes

You might have been expecting rainbow stripes but this time I went tonal and to match the image I coloured. I have been trying to get ahead in my card making and sometimes I feel like I am just making them in time so I need to try something different, no idea what that is but something needs to change.

Sorry that turned moany so back to the card, I went for a different way of using the stripes but not sure I will again as they have to be very straight and there is no margin for error lol.

Perfection Guaranteed

Sometimes a perfect card comes together without even trying, I had coloured this image in florida and i was trying to decide how to make it into a card when I spotted this card base in my stash, it worked perfectly and the stamp was also in my misti from a card I had just finished!!!

 

Creative Fabrica - Fabulous Find

I joined Creative Fabrica in May and was browsing the site and spotted they had digital stamps and this entire card was created using one of the sets I found, in fact the file contained 5000 stamps so expect to see more soon.
