Sheetload of Cards

I discovered this challenge after attending one of the “stamp me some love” cardmaking events, I watched a video from Alicia (crafty al) and she mentioned her challenge that is monthly so I went and looked and I was hooked. I sat and cut a few sheets of paper and made a sheetload of backgrounds, I will hopefully be adding images and finishing them all soon.

But to start here are two using a set from Lil Inker, I love the look that the coffee inside the cup gives. Writing this post makes me want to make more and that’s the thing I love the most about this blog, it makes me want to craft .

After I had finished the last set of cards I decided to be organised and start writing them out which was when I decided I needed more of this design, I’ve used three new inks for these and I like them a lot but the mint is still my favourite lol.

Capri Pants

I was originally going to colour this image in grey tones but once I had finished the trousers I immediately reached for my normal skin colours and that stopped my plan in its tracks. I am kind of glad as I think the red really makes the image pop.

I am so happy LOTV have introduced digistamps as this means you can make the image whatever size you want. I might try making her really huge next time lol.

Deer Christmas

In the January sale i bought a pack of ten christmas cards that had colour your own designs, they reminded me of the Tim Holtz hipsters and I knew exactly who I was making the cards for. The paper was a bit porous so I wasn't able to blend as normal but I think that adds to the charm. I do wish I had cut the bit behind his glasses before I added the nuvo glaze but never mind.

Mojo Challenge 2

This is my second mojo challenge post and again I have included two cards. It has definitely reinvigorated my mojo and I don't have many of the images left to use either. Hopefully I will use them all as that would be a first for me.

So today I was inspired by the cards made in the magazine by the design team. I haven't followed any exactly but it gave me a starting point. I had forgotten how much an embossed background makes a card pop.

Ingredients
Images:"making cards" magazine
Paper: "making cards" magazine
Dies: blueprints 1, 2 and 3 and basic border scalloped edges 2 all MFT and "happy birthday" from Dovecraft

Making Cards - Birthday Bears Version 4

This is the final card of the four, now I made two mistakes on this card, number one I meant to use the last of the four bear stamps but didn't and two the sentiment needed some colour. However, despite the obvious mistakes I still like the card, in fact I liked all four and wish I had made more.

I am not sure this is a technique I will be replicating in the future but I sure hope it is as it was fun and fast.

Making Cards - Birthday Bears Version 3

The third version of this card, I changed the border edge but that is all I did change. It is amazing to me though that just changing the colours has such an effect on the look and feel of a card, the sentiment pops more on this than any of the others just because of the colour of the background.

One more to go, I hope you aren't bored of them yet, cos I am certainly not bored of making them lol.

Making Cards- Birthday Bears Version 2

Ok so I tried the trial to make two cards each time I sat down to craft in January and I failed miserably lol, I knew I would as its not my normal style of crafting, however the making cards magazine arrived, I saw a card idea and I made four, yes you heard that right four cards, the same but different. Now you could be forgiven for thinking this is an April Fools joke but I assure you it is not.

This is version two which apart from the bear being different is almost identical to version 1. This bear is uber cute and deserved to be used before being filed away never to see the light of day again lol.

Making Cards - Birthday Bears

I started a subscription for this magazine in January and so far I am so impressed, the free gift for March was a set of bear stamps and papers and toppers for boy cards. I used one of the bears and papers from the booklet to make this card.

I rarely use the free papers with magazines but these are fab quality and the colours and patterns on the ones I chose were calling out to be used straight away. Now this card was made the day the magazine arrived and I am hoping it is still available for those who like the bear.

Pure Innocence Happy Banner

The new 30 day colouring challenge has started but I used an older challenge image to make this card, my extra challenge to myself this time is to make them into cards once a week so that I'm not still making cards with them six months later lol.

I had to try to match the paper to the image as it was already coloured, not something I do anymore and I remembered why...its so hard lol. I eventually found these papers from MFT and they marched almost perfectly so I went with it.

Since I bought the scalloped edges I can't seem to stop using them, I think I need the other set now as well lol.

Gorjuss Toadstools

This card was for a very special crafty friend who also happens to be a huge Gorjuss fan. I had recently shown her the Tatty Teddy card I had made with the cloud border and she really liked it and so an idea for her card started. I went with a cute unused gorjuss stamp and a new sentiment that I think is fabulous and sums up my friends rather well. Once I had coloured the image, always the longest part, the card came together quickly. She was very pleased with it which was exactly what I had hoped for.

From the Heart Grumpy Cat

This cat reminded me so much of my friends rather large grey ball of fluff I had to get it, it was part of a set but I had to have it. I bought it ages ago but I knew from the start I wanted to use it for her birthday.

I forgot to order the Simon Says Stamp curvy scalloped border dies when I was last in Florida and I wanted to recreate that look so I took a look at my dies and thought I could achieve something similar with the stitched hillside dies from lawn fawn. I wasn't sure if it would work but it did and now I have another use for them.

Blush Becky - The Greeting Farm

My good friend Kay has again provided this sketch and it really kickstarted my mojo, I have been christmas card making for a while and sometimes that sucks all my energy especially as time races by and the cards I need to make seems to multiply.

I saw this image on "a thousand sheet of paper" blog and I just had to buy her and for once I coloured her straight away and she was even made into a card the same night. Now I didn't colour her today or even yesterday but way back in October but it has taken me this long to upload her lol.

December is here...let the panic begin

Oh my goodness, 2nd of December already and I am so behind. Normally I have all of my presents bought, wrapped and ready to give but not this year. I have barely even started making my cards let alone writing them. I have though made two cards and little presents for my friends I saw last night.

On my recent Florida trip I went into Bath and Bodyworks and bought some of their new scented hand wash and then made them into little gifts for the girls. They both seemed to like them and couldn't believe I hadn't bought them already packaged. Didn't like to tell them about the trail of wrong sized boxes that is currently in my craftroom.
