A Baby Girl for a change

Well last year was the year of the baby boy but it looks like baby girls are on the agenda for 2012. One of my work friends and his wife had a baby girl last week and I made this card for them. Last year everyone was having boys and they all knew beforehand so I had lots of time to make cards and like always I waited until the last minute but this year they are all waiting until the birth to find out, so I had to make a girl and boy version. I will show the boy version again though as am keeping it for someone else.

I used a gorgeous image from Di's digi downloads and had a blast colouring her in. I don't know about anyone else but I find pink the most difficult colour to match, I tried all my copic colours but none would match the nit wit paper so had to resort to mixing my own with the RV10 and R11, irl they look an identical match to the papers, not sure the camera picked that up though.

Aren't freebie stamps the best

Hi Everyone, sorry for going missing, been a bit hectic here and haven't gotten myself back in the crafty groove, this is a problem as I have lots of cards to make and no mojo lol.

The only crafty magazine I buy regularly is the docrafts creativity, as with all magazines sometimes I like the free gift and sometimes I love it. I always check to see what the next issues free gift will be and when I saw these gorgeous stamps I thought they would be small but they are definitely not small, they almost fill the 135 x 135 cards I use and are lovely to colour too. My mojo is off on her summer vacation I think as I really struggled to put this card together, I have been trying to get ahead as I have loads of September birthdays and this is when the mojo always goes on strike lol. If anyone finds it can they please send it back to me.

A Wedding Card

Now all you who remember me asking if I should make a card ready for December may think this is the one I meant but no it isn't, this is for a young lady at work who gets married today, she loves bright pink and as I had just bought these fab papers I had to use them. The image is from Jellypark and was a joy to colour, I bought this image for the december card but forgot about the lili of the valley one I already had so at least I got to use this one.

Mmm...Chocolates...Again...

This isn't the first card I have made with this stamp and after the fun I had colouring it  won't be my last either. Last month there was a sale at Sassy-Designs Inc where they were selling their digital paper packs for 25cents each, so it would have been rude to visit and not buy any lol. Of course I had to buy the sets called, Amanda, Newport and Orlando lol and several others to keep them company. The papers for this card are actually from two separate kits, Christy and Heirloom, and I love that the colours match perfectly.

I have used all scraps for the card except the backing papers, the teal card was in the snippet folder as was the crumb cake card. Now I realise I may be revealing too much here but all my stampin up card has its own folder and any snippets no matter how small go straight back in, so all the crumb cake snippets are with the full sheets of crumb cake, makes it much easier to keep them together but this is the only card I do this with.

Shopping with friends

Hello everyone, I have had the most fantastic week, my friend and I have shopped til we dropped and had so much fun too. She has gone home now and I miss her already, she is such fun to be around and we like the same things too. Hopefully it won't be long until we get to do this again.

I saw so many lovely items that it has inspired my mojo and I also managed to get some wax paper so will be playing with that this weekend too.

MIA

Hi everyone, just to let you know I haven't disappeared but I have friends visiting at the moment so no time for making cards, blog hopping or commenting. Will be back next week hopefully unless my mojo goes walkabout.

Another New Job Card

I have made this in anticipation of my former boss getting a new job, I know that he will soon so wanted to be ready. I have used my go to image for male new job cards from Digistamp Boutique, he is a joy to colour too. I have used some of my new Echo Park digi papers for the background and since I have discovered the joys of distressing with inks there is no stopping me. I didn't even bother with layers of card as the inking made the papers stand out enough that card would have been overpowering, of course this does mean that the snippet mountain did not reduce at all....shock horror....

I have been asked about my new signature on my photo's, hubbie made it for me and I have to say I love it. Not a techie person so no idea how he did it but I do know how to add it and change the transparency if I need to lol.

Less is More - Blue & Green

Ok so I don't normally enter the LIM challenge as although I like clean and simple cards I never think mine are cas enough, if you know what I mean. I have just printed the new Pink Petticoat "Fresh Celery" papers and thought oh they would be perfect for this challenge. I bought this stamp from Quixotic paperie and it arrived on Saturday so it had to be inked up and coloured. I haven't made this for anyone but I thought it was so much fun it didn't deserve to sit in my uninked draw.

Santa Baby

I love that song and find myself singing along whenever I hear it, make me feel Christmassy even when it is extremely hot outside lol. I have made another Christmas card to add to the pile, at this rate I should have all my Christmas cards made by November 2013 lol. As anyone who has visited my blog recently will know I have been trying new techniques, not new to the crafting world perhaps but to me anyway. So for this card I have made a white on white card using snippets. I must say although there is a distinct lack of backing papers I am really pleased with how this turned out. I used lots of flock on his fur trim and may go back and put glitter on his beard but need to decide who he goes to first.

Pink Petticoat New Colours

I don't normally post about special offers etc but thought all you that love pink petticoat papers should know about this, Liz is changing the colour collection palette to remove the least favourite colours and introduce some new ones, I love the new colours but was sad to see a few of my favourites disappear.

If you like me have been dithering over buying a particular collection and want it in the original colours you will need to be quick as the collections are being updated soon, there is also a download that means you an get the new colours in all the existing collections for the bargain price of £8, I downloaded it this morning and my oh my it is huge and great value.

I am not connected with pp in any way except as a customer for over 6 years, infact pp were the first digital stamps and papers I bought so will always have a special place in my heart.

Distressed.....I'm distressed.....

Ok so I am so far out of my comfort zone that I am not sure of the way back.....I have been experimenting over the last few weekends, and have been thoroughly enjoying myself to boot. For this card I have airbrushed a background, inked the edges and even used my craft mat and Tim Holtz tool to add some black and pink. Of course there is still an image coloured with copics and a bit of glossy accents so I did feel more comfortable about this one.

Waste not want not

Ok so this card is a definite change from my usual, I know when I have used a non cute image I have said the same but this is about as far from my comfort zone as I get lol. I bought the new papermania bottle cap 6 x 6 stamp and decided to try the emboss resist technique, so I embossed in white first, then realised that I am useless with inks so thought how can I achieve a similar look and looked up and my new shiny used once airbrush was staring at me, so I sprayed the card stock with my copics, it doesn't wipe off the embossing but I think that adds to the charm and makes it more distressed. I showed my handiwork to hubbie and expected the usual, oh thats nice when he said wow I love that look, well you could have knocked me down with a feather. He then came into my craftroom...unheard of ....and said what are you doing with that bit of card, I said its waste from where I cut some fishtail dies and he said that would look great over the top, so that is exactly where it ended up.

I have never made a card with my hubbie before, he has helped occasionally when equipment needs his IT skills or to save it being thrown through a window but he has never spent time in here with me making a card. He chose all the other elements and after embossing the blue card he told me to buy myself some more powder and that bag thingy as I seemed to be enjoying embossing so much. The bottle top is part of the stamp coloured with the same copics as I airbrushed with with glossy accents in the middle, much cheaper than the ones in the shop.
