Magical Unicorn Number 1

So far in my blog posts I haven't mentioned the current pandemic and the effect its having on everyone, the reason for this isn't that I am heartless but rather I want this blog to be a cheerful place and at the moment its an outlet for my creative side and that is certainly helping my anxiety levels.

My heart goes out to all who are suffering, have died, are lonely, feel helpless and who desperately need a hug. I am also very grateful for all the nurses, doctors, cleaners, rubbish collectors, drivers, chemists, carers, store clerks and generally everyone who is keeping the country running whilst the rest of us are hunkered down.

After all that it feels wrong to talk about a card but ultimately thats what this blog is for and i am so thankful for this hobby.

This year I have batch made the cards for the 7 year old, I can't believe I am writing that they are seven....where has the time gone.

This card evolved a life of its own and surprisingly I didn't purchase anything new to make it...I am as surprised as you are lol.

I was inspired by the unicorn set from Birdie Brown at MFT and was going to purchase it when I remembered I had this image as a digi from CC Designs. Side note : I wish they still did digi stamps as it was so much easier to get hold of them.

Ok back to the card during the release the design team had used the BB image with the cloud stencil a lot and this idea sprung to my mind, I went uber rainbow with it though and it might be a little bright lol. The colouring was inspired by the original unicorn lucy release and how the cc design team had coloured her.

I do wish I had made the unicorn ears white rather than match the hair colour but I am sure the recipients will never notice that.

Last of the one sheet wonders for the moment

Woohoo the last one sheet wonder for a while at least, this one I only made this week with last months edition of "making cards magazine" I couldn't wait to ink these stamps up and made two cards at the same time, I used the layout from the magazine for the other one and I was in a rush to finish this one when I remembered I had one last one sheet wonder background left.

I did shed a little tear at using the last one and I know I will have to make more as they took a lot of stress out of my card making last year. I know this hobby shouldn't be stressful but sometimes when time is tight and I am disorganised it certainly feels that way. I have tried lots of methods to help but none have worked as well as I had hoped for. I am sure if I took the stress away I would just spend all my time organising and not making lol.

Oh no not another one sheet wonder

I know, I know you are sick of seeing these one sheet wonder backgrounds but I promise you there are only a few more.

I was on a roll with these colour combos and I didn't even put my copics away, just left them on the desk ready for the next card. I will say that even though that this one doesn't look like the card before and I do need to use the backgrounds for more diverse images next time, and believe me there will be a next time lol.

One Sheet Wonder the Return

Things never happen in singles and the same can be said for anything. I had two cards to make for friends who were having a tough time so I used the same set as before and one of the last backgrounds from this One sheet wonder.

I wanted her to know I was thinking of her and that I wished her a speedy recovery.

One Sheet Wonder Again

As I haven't shown anything in ages it was easy to see how many cards I had made with both this image and these backgrounds. I was quite shocked to say the least, I knew I had made 16 backgrounds in one sitting but I am still surprised that they don't all look the same lol.

I really need to do this again as it was so handy when I needed a card quickly and it took the guess work out of the layout and also the colour combos.

Not much else to say except my friend had recently undergone some emergency surgery and I wanted her to know I was thinking of her. I am pleased to report she is doing very well and it making a full recovery

Best Beer is an Open Beer

Ok so my last post with a card showed a beer make and I said it was made back in October, well this one was made at the same time. I did continue the two cards in one sitting that I started at the beginning of 2019 and I am proud to say I am still continuing that now.

I was also obsessed at the time with the One Sheet Wonder concept and had adapted the layout to use 6x6 paper, you don't get as many layouts but you can mix and match the patterns and colours easier

Sorry

I just wanted to pop a quick post on here to apologise for my absence. I never intended being away from my blog for this long and I think you all deserve a bit of an explanation.

Before I start I should clarify that I am ok and that I haven't fallen over and broken something again.

My absence has been because of circumstances beyond my control to a degree, I have several family members who need my attention at the moment and although I am still creating cards and photographing them I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and blog them. I tend to blog late at night as I find that helps me to be more open in my correspondence (is that the right word lol) with you and share my feelings/thoughts more openly than I would if i blogged in the morning, however the energy to do that has waned a lot recently.

I really miss blogging though and I am going to try (not promise) to upload a few posts this week, I have lots of cards that I haven't shared but my explanations might be hit and miss as I don't always know what I used or which colours etc, this is one of the reasons for blogging my cards it is kind of like my personal sketchbook and helps me to remember colour combos, layouts, designs ad supplies I might otherwise forget about.

If you are still here, thank you and I appreciate you taking the time to read all this way down.

Hugs
Amanda
