Who Let the Dog Out

This is going to be a bit of a picture heavy post, I made this card for my good friend Kay and before I go any further I wanted to wish her a very happy birthday.

So this card was a bit of a labour of love, it took a while and was a project I did in between others and not all in one go. The first thing I did was the wall background, I used the brick stencil and paver red ink both from MFT and inked the whole back of the card. I didn't have a grass die so I used the icicle border and cut it from white card, used twisted citroen and mowed lawn distress inks to colour it and placed it around the outside. It looked a bit plain so I cut a fence and added that and then it looked better lol.

I cut the window using a memory box die and layered several with a layer of acetate in the middle. The hole on the card was cut by hand and is smaller than the window so I had something to adhere to.

It was a fun project and I hope Kay likes it. When I finished even Hubbie liked it and suggested making a christmas version for our neighbours, I said maybe next year lol.

Owl Nerd - Geek is Chic

Even though this card is straight the angle of the image and also the spiral stencil make it seem as though its spinning, to be honest its making me feel dizzy just typing the post lol.

Its a simple card as I wanted the image to stand out and not be dominated by the background, I'm not sure I completely succeeded though lol.

Blissed Out

You might recognise this paper from the cards I posted a few days ago, this was a left over piece so I'm off for a skate on the frozen snippet playground pond.

I tried to colour the dog to look like my friends Chihuahua even though its clearly not a Chihuahua lol.

I apologise for the really blurry photos lately, I have been struggling to get them taken before the last post and I know I need to start earlier next year, I know I say that every year lol.

Penguins in Paradise

I was inspired by Nichol Spohr and her fab scene cards. I hadn't used these penguins and my friend is a huge, huge penguin fan, now normally I make her a penguin card for Christmas but I thought why not use this set and make her a birthday card.

Once I decided what I was going to do it came together easily, I used the surf and turf slider dies for the waves which was the only die I wasn't sure I had. I did use the matching dies but I had to cut one of the trees by hand as I wanted it to curve.

The finished card does have a sentiment on it above the trees but I had forgotten to stamp one before I took the photo.

As you can probably tell this is almost the same as yesterdays card but this one is for the Mother-in-Law so it had to be a little boy. It does remind me of Hubbie not that he is stroppy of course lol.

Stroppy Jumper - Girl

This was the card I made for my Mum for this christmas. I knew as soon as I saw this image it would be perfect. I did buy it in digi version as I thought I could make it larger and easier to colour but in the end it is only about 30% bigger and was still quite fiddly lol.

She did smile when she opened it so that is a good sign that she liked it, I hope lol.

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to pop on and say a

"Very Merry Christmas Everyone"

I am scheduling this post as I will probably be up to my armpits in potato peelings when this goes live.

I wanted to thank you all for reading this little blog and for all your comments and friendship throughout the year, it means the world to me.

Special Delivery

My neighbour and good friend has a huge grey fluffy cat and every year I try to make her a card with a cat on it.

I had forgotten I had this stamp but I was looking for a dog one (you might have to wait a while to see that one) and I came across this set. The cat had a bow on her head but as the cat in question is a guy I masked it as best as I could. I can still see a few lines but they look like head creases on the pillow I hope.

White Christmas

I made an almost identical card to this a few years ago and as I am fast running out of ideas for cards I decided to recreate it again.

On the previous one I inked the background this time I decided to copic colour. I used different colours than I intended as my B26 was awaiting a refill and I think this is a combo for future reference as it's a lovely shade.

Hero Arts Bottle Brush Trees

Another extremely clean and simple card, the UK postage has been making my card making simpler and simpler over the years as lots of layers equals lots of pennies to post lol.

I bought this set in the sale last year at the same time as the crystal ornament and I was determined to use it for at least a few of this years cards. I ended up making four identical and think this is the way to go for my bulk making in future, any more than four and i get bored.

Hero Arts Deer

As soon as I saw Jennifer McGuire use this set in the summer I knew I had to get it. It was extremely difficult set to get in the UK so I had to wait until my October Florida trip to get my hands on it. I am so glad I did as I loved using it.

When I first tried it I used a combination of different manufacturer's inks and colours but I couldn't get the look I wanted so after seeing Kay use the Altenew inks I bought the "coffee break" set. Oh my goodness what a difference, they are tonal and work perfectly together, I think even thought I have enough inks to open a store I will be getting all the sets they offer lol.

I also used an impression plate to give a pretty plain card a bit of interest and as I used both sides of the plate I have showed both examples. The plate gives a lovely finish and is another thing I'm going to be buying more of. I made this design in bulk and also made it in red but I forgot to take a photo before they went in the post.

Ink: Altenew coffee break set for the deer and Pinfeathers from Papertrey ink for the sentiment

Craft Group

I attend a weekly craft group at a very lovely ladies house and this is the style of card I made for them this year. I used different images on each one and also took this picture before I added the white gel pen snow but you get the idea lol.

I was in such a rush to get them made, written and handed out before we finished for christmas that I had sealed the envelopes before I photographed them, I must be more organised next year lol.

I have a good friend who is a bit of a penguin fan, so every time I see a cute penguin I want to buy it. Beary Special Christmas

This is another image coloured for the colouring challenge but this was the july/august challenge and its finally made it onto a card. I think I still have a few images from that challenge to use in fact I have so many coloured images I don't think I need pick up a pen for at least a month lol.

I have used this design before and for quick and easy cards its a blast. Not much else to say except I used a new paper pad and I'm pleased with myself for cutting into it straight away lol.

Pergamano Flower Girl

These are such delicate and beautifully drawn images, they are quite fiddly to colour as they are so delicate but the end result is worth it though.

As with most things these stamps have been around for a while, I wanted them but they were quite difficult to get hold of. I decided I didn't need them and then I spotted them lurking in a store and that was it I had to have them. There are four images in the set, each one is beautiful and I am hoping that they might make it on a card before 2018 lol.

Ugly Jumper

I must say this everytime I make a card but I can't believe I've not used this stamp before. It was an absolute joy to colour and was part of the November 30 day colouring challenge. I have been much better during this challenge at making the coloured images into cards. I have been trying to turn them into cards once a week, this does mean that the card style is almost identical and you might be thinking this is very similar to the two snow globes from earlier in the week and of course you would be right lol.

Fireman Sam

I can't believe this image was released in 2009, Mo's designs have a real timeless quality.

The colour scheme for this might seem a little random but there is a popular children's TV show here called "fireman Sam" and I used the colours of the uniform on the little guy.

I've used the same layout as this card, I was going to use the layout from the second birthday cards from last year but I was in the zone and it was made before I even thought about it.

Hero Arts Crystal Ornaments

I bought this set back in the January sales and had loads of ideas, of course I was sick of making christmas cards then so I didn't execute any and then when I come to use it this year, zilch, nada, diddly, no ideas at all lol.

In the end I decided to just stamp them, gold heat emboss and colour with gansai tambi starry watercolours. It is hard to tell in the photo but each bauble is a different gold colour, in the light they simply sparkle.

I made the same card twice and have added both colour variations, I don't have a favourite but you might

Happy Birthday MUM

This is another of the huge cards I make for my Mum's birthday. I wasn't intending using these papers as I used them a few years ago for her but I had already coloured the image and they matched perfectly so it felt the way to go.

I actually coloured the image way back in August as part of the first 30 day challenge I took part in so I don't have a list of the copics and that determined the way the card was going to go lol.

I wanted to wish my MUM a very happy birthday and let her know I was thinking of her xx

Beast Friends

You might notice a pattern emerging the more cards I post, yes I have jumped on the Yeti bandwagon and I can't see me getting off anytime soon. This yeti is uber cute and part of a set from MFT, yes before you ask there will be more Yeti cards lol.

I kept this one pretty simple as I normally do, it could probably do with some stickles on the snow but then its done lol.

Are you Yeti to Party?

This si the other image in the Darcie "yeti to party" set, I fell in love with his cute grin. He was the first one I coloured but not the first card I made. I used the diagonal stripe on the polar bear and thought why not make an almost identical card this time. I love colouring the stripes with copics, and putting it all back together feels like a jigsaw puzzle.

Kady with Dollie

Finally the last third birthday card of 2016, I went with a different image for this one, think this might be the fourth birthday image for the girls next year. Its another Mo Manning, just love the expressions she manages to capture.

Not much to say about this one, different image, papers and card but the same layout as all the others. All I do know is next year I am making these much earlier as once I decide on the layout, which I always find the most difficult then I'm not going to procrastinate I'm just going to do.

Darcie Polar Bear

I was just leaving a store in Florida when I spotted new stock waiting to go out and this uber cute polar bear just begged to be brought home with me, there is also a yeti (hence the sets name) which I have also coloured and am in the process of making into an almost identical card ( look out for that soon).

I have used a similar cover up die a lot recently so I knew that I had to get the other version too, unusually for me I have used it already, normally I wait until Ive had an item at least six months before I use it lol.

Great Outdoors - Penny Black

There was another 30 day colouring challenge in November and I decided to colour mostly Christmas images this time, this is one and I have been trying to get them made onto cards so expect to see lots more during the month of December.

I enjoy the colouring challenge more than I can say, I was more organised in July though and used different companies each day. This challenge started after I had just arrived home from a Florida trip and my jet lag was horrendous and any sort of organisation was way beyond my abilities lol, still i took part and enjoyed it and thats the most important part.

Tis the Season to Prance

I am/was so upset when Clearly Besotted decided to take a break, I am such a big fan so I knew I had to get this set as I would be kicking myself later if I couldn't make at least a few cards with it.

I wanted the deer to be jumping but I used the wrong slider discs so he not only jumps he spins as well lol. I'm hoping to get the slider discs and make a few more, I also need to remember every card needs a Rudolph.

I Hope Santa Spoils you Rotten

Last year I set myself the task of posting each and every day in December and I enjoyed it so much I'm going to try again this year.

Yet again the first Christmas cards I make are for my Florida friends, I try to get them made and sent early as I don't want them to not get them in time.

Last year one of them gave me a card with this little elf, of course I then needed the set lol.

I've made them fairly simple and almost flat as postage is quite expensive but they are worth it.

I was colouring this image at a playday when Kelly said it was her favourite Stamping Bella image, so I decided to stop and colour it later and make it into her card.

Its a huge image and quite complicated to colour so it was done in stages. I knew the paper I was going to use so matching the colours was easy.

I have used retired card stock as it matched the colours perfectly, I kind of hope that stampin up re-release this colour as part of their main colours as its so pretty.

Blue Pram

Phew almost finished the third birthday cards, only one more to go. I coloured this one at the same time as "another Purple Pram" I wanted to use the same papers and didn't want to have to match the colours again.

I'm still liking the colour scheme, I was going to use the turquoise to mount the card instead of the grape jelly but the letters didn't show up so I stuck with the original design and colours.

To Infinity and Beyond

I decided I wanted to try and make a galaxy background, I wasn't sure which inks I wanted to use so I made two, I will have the other card to show you in a few days. I have to say that I enjoyed making this background much more than I thought I would, I do need to invest in some white paint though as it didn't seem to matter which method I tried none were white enough.

I tried cutting a circle for the alien to stand on but it looked lost so I remembered I had bought a digi planet from Dustin Pike eons ago and for once I was right I did have it. The hardest part was getting the size right and then I coloured with my copics and all done.

Crazy Dogs number 2

This is the second card I made using the crazy dogs, even though I made the card a while ago it still makes me smile. It's amazing how different the cards look even though I used the same layout on each.

I went a bit darker on the colouring on this than I wanted but he still looks ok.

Crazy Dogs

I have made six of these cards but I'm not going to show them all at the same time, mostly cos I'm not sure if the recipients check my blog. I was inspired by Nichol Spohr, she made a card with the background stripes and the plain panel and I thought it was a fab clean and simple layout and absolutely perfect for guy cards.

This dog reminds me of my friends, he's not crazy but he is funny and he constantly drops a ball at you feet so I made this for him. My friend not his dog lol. I wish there was a chihuahua in the set but maybe the next set will have one instead lol.

Mega Mini Remix

I'm a fan of Sandy Allnock and her crazy colouring although some of her colour combos do scare me a bit, she did some cards previously where she coloured different skin tones. I used to do this a lot but recently I seem to reach for the same pens so I pulled out the greeting farm mega mini set and decided to try a few different combos, I really liked the ones I'd made so I thought lets get them on a card.

I do seem to be on a roll/stuck in a rut with the three Polaroids on a card thing, but I will admit to really liking it and it works so well for smaller images. I might try something different but if it ain't broke why fix it lol.

Mini Bots Again

Yet more images from the colouring challenge and a design I've used before to boot. I tried a more monochromatic look and the delicata ink makes the circuit design look more metallic.

Not a lot else to say on this one, it was fun to make and as its a tried and tested design pretty quick too, it does of course help already having the images coloured and ready to go, I kind of wish i had coloured the outline black instead of leaving them white, but there is always next time.

Ingredients
Image and Sentiments: "mini bots" Clearly Besotted
Dies: "polaroid frames" and blueprints 2 both MFT
Stencil : "circuit" Brett Weldele inked with Silvery shimmer delicata ink

Stinkin cute

I rarely make a card for fun without anyone in mind but this is just such a card, I still don't know who will receive it but I enjoyed making it which is the most important thing I suppose.

I am almost at the end of the colouring challenge images, hooray I hear you say lol. But if I've calculated right another has already started or will be soon so this is something I am going to continue doing. I have enjoyed making cards with already coloured images and trying new ways to make them different too.

Super Sized Birthday Again

I have used this set a few times now but this is the first one I've added googly eyes too. They move quite a bit and give it a more fun feel. This is for someone who adores McDonalds, I had lots of different ideas in mind but I went with a fun one rather than a serious one.

Ive used pretty much the same layout as last time, only difference is the images are cut and layered rather than masked and stamped directly on the paper. I was going to use action wobblers too but that would have been a bit much.

Ingredients
Image and Sentiment : "Happy Meal" Your Next Stamp
Dies: Blueprints 24
Stencil: "small checkerboard" from MFT, cherry crisp ink also mft

Weekend Warrior

I am sure you are sick of hearing how this is from the 30 day challenge, well guess what it is lol. This was however different to my normal colouring style, I tried to emulate the coloured packaging and use only one or two colours and not blend them out, I think its pretty effective but look much longer than I thought and hoped. The AI stamps seem to all have this packaging and I have quite a few, unused of course so I might try this again.
